History
Introduced at the 1974 Geneva Motor Show, the Sbarro BMW 328 Replica became the most commercially successful model the atelier ever made. Around 135 examples were completed — a remarkable number for a Swiss low-volume specialist — making it the only Sbarro model to approach anything resembling series production.
The body faithfully reproduced the pre-war BMW 328's curvaceous aluminum lines, but Sbarro used modern mechanical underpinnings to give owners a usable road car rather than a fragile museum piece. Clients could specify various period-appropriate or contemporary engines depending on their preference.
The 328 Replica's longevity — spanning roughly a decade of production — gave Sbarro the financial stability to pursue ever more experimental one-off projects in parallel, including the Tiger, Stash, and later the Challenge series.
