History
The seventh-generation Phantom, launched in 2003, was the first Rolls-Royce developed under BMW ownership and built at the new Goodwood factory. A vast aluminium-spaceframe saloon with a 6.75-litre V12, rear-hinged coach doors, and the towering presence the marque had always traded on, it re-established Rolls-Royce at the very top of the luxury market. Coupe and drophead-coupe versions joined the range.
The Phantom VIII arrived in 2017 on the brand's new aluminium "Architecture of Luxury" platform, continuing as the flagship above the Ghost. About 10,327 Phantom VIIs were built over 14 years — far more than any classic Phantom, none of which exceeded a few hundred a year.
