History
Introduced at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show (coded IP31) and on sale in China from February 2017, the Roewe i6 was positioned as the replacement for the aging 550 and shared its platform with the second-generation MG 6 sedan. Like the RX5 before it, it was developed with Alibaba Group and marketed as the world's first mass-produced internet-connected family car, running AliOS in a connected cabin.
Engine options included a 1.0-litre three-cylinder producing 125 hp and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 170 hp — accessible pricing that kept it competitive in China's crowded C-segment. A high-performance i6 S variant with more power was subsequently added. The model has received updates and continues in the Roewe lineup.
