Unveiled at the 2012 Beijing International Motor Show, the Roewe 950 was the brand's largest and most prestigious sedan. It was built on a long-wheelbase variant of the General Motors Epsilon II platform — the same architecture underpinning the 2010 Buick LaCrosse — a result of the SAIC-GM joint venture relationship. Stretching the wheelbase gave rear passengers the generous legroom Chinese executive-car buyers demanded.
Engine options at launch included a 2.0-litre four-cylinder (154 hp), a 2.4-litre four-cylinder (186 hp), and a 3.0-litre V6 (265 hp), all GM-sourced. A 2014 facelift added a more efficient 2.0-litre turbocharged engine (220 hp, 350 Nm) and dropped the naturally-aspirated V6. The 950 served as Roewe's executive halo until it was retired in 2019.
