Roewe Ei5 History
History
First shown at the 2017 Guangzhou Auto Show and launched in China in 2018, the Roewe Ei5 is the fully electric estate-car version of the i5 platform. Built on an adaptation of GM's Delta architecture, it was designed to be an affordable battery-electric option for practical family buyers who preferred a wagon body style over a crossover.
The Ei5 uses a 52.5 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor. Its export counterpart — the MG5 EV — launched in the UK in September 2020 with a more powerful 154 hp motor, making it one of the first affordable all-electric estate cars available to European consumers. The Roewe-badged domestic version was produced through approximately 2025.
