History

Unveiled at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, the Renault 5 E-Tech is a B-segment battery-electric hatchback that deliberately references the styling of the original 1972 Renault 5 while being built on a new electric architecture. It is assembled at Renault's Douai 'ElectriCity' plant in northern France.

The 5 E-Tech won the 2025 European Car of the Year award, becoming the second version of the Renault 5 nameplate to win that honour. By October 2024, 100,000 units had already been built — faster than any previous Renault EV launch. It is offered with 120 hp and 150 hp motors and a 52 kWh battery providing up to 380 km (236 miles) of WLTP range.
