History

Launched in January 1994 as the replacement for the Renault 21, the first-generation Laguna was notable for being the first European car to achieve five stars in Euro NCAP crash testing. The Laguna II (2000–2007) introduced keyless entry using a credit-card-format smart card — one of the first production cars with this feature.

The Laguna III (2007–2015) offered an attractive four-door coupé body in addition to the hatchback and estate, and the range-topping GT AWD variant brought all-wheel drive to a Renault family car for the first time. The Laguna was replaced in 2015 by the Talisman.
