Introduced in late 1924, the Series 80 was a deliberately less expensive Pierce-Arrow, sitting below the established big sixes (then the Series 33). Powered by a 288.6-cubic-inch L-head six, it was meant to widen the marque's appeal beyond the wealthiest buyers without diluting its quality reputation.
The Series 80 sold well through 1927 and was lightly revised into the Series 81 for 1928 — distinguished mainly by smaller headlamps for that single year — before the Studebaker era and the move to straight-eight engines reshaped the lineup.
