History
Introduced for 1999, the Alero replaced both the Achieva and the compact Cutlass, sharing its chassis and engines with the Pontiac Grand Am. It was offered as a four-door sedan or two-door coupe in GX, GL, and GLS trims.
The Alero holds a poignant place in the marque's history: it was Oldsmobile's last new model nameplate, and the very last Oldsmobile ever built — a Dark Cherry Metallic 'Final 500 Edition' GLS sedan — rolled off the Lansing line on April 29, 2004, signed under the hood by the plant's employees.
