Nash LaFayette History
History
LaFayette had been a separate luxury marque that Charles Nash acquired in the 1920s. Nash revived the name in 1934 for a lower-priced companion line aimed at value-minded Depression-era buyers, positioned below the senior Nash models.
For 1937 the line was consolidated with the low-priced Nash 400 as the 'Nash LaFayette 400', and from 1938 it was known simply as the Nash LaFayette — by then the lowest rung of the Nash ladder rather than a distinct companion marque. It served as Nash's entry point through 1940 before being replaced by the new unibody Nash 600 for 1941.
