2003–2005
The first AMG S-Class flagship, the W220 S 65 AMG, used a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 making around 612 PS — a luxury super-sedan.
2006–2013
The W221 offered both the V8 S 63 AMG and the V12 S 65 AMG.
2014–2020
The W222 S 63 AMG launched with a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 (577 hp) and, after the 2018 facelift, AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (about 603 hp); the V12 S 65 AMG continued through 2019.
2021–present
The W223 continues as the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance — a plug-in-hybrid 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making over 800 hp combined.
