Lotus Emeya History
History
Revealed on 7 September 2023 and beginning customer deliveries in 2024, the Emeya is Lotus's second battery-electric production model (after the Eletre) and the brand's first electric car in a traditional grand tourer format. Produced at the same Wuhan factory as the Eletre, it is a five-door, rear-biased all-wheel-drive liftback with a low, swept roofline that Lotus calls a 'hyper-GT'.
Twin electric motors on the performance variants produce up to around 905 hp, with a 0–60 mph claim below three seconds. Like the Eletre, the Emeya is aimed at global luxury-EV buyers — a deliberate repositioning of Lotus from an ultra-niche British sports car maker into a volume premium-electric brand under Geely ownership. In 2024, Lotus reported 12,134 total deliveries, a 74% year-on-year increase driven primarily by the Eletre and Emeya.
