Lotus Eclat History

The Eclat (1975–1982) was Lotus's sporty four-seat grand tourer, sharing the backbone chassis and 2.0-litre Lotus 907 engine of the Elite Type 75 but wearing a lower, sleeker fastback roofline in place of the Elite's upright hatchback tail.

Part of Chapman's push to move Lotus upmarket into the GT segment, it was sold alongside the Elite and was eventually succeeded by the closely related, Toyota-componented Lotus Excel in 1982.
