Lotus Eletre History
History
The Eletre marks the biggest break with tradition in Lotus's history: the company's first SUV and its first car built in China (at Wuhan), part of the Geely-backed strategy to grow Lotus far beyond low-volume sports cars. Revealed in March 2022 and reaching customers in 2023, it is produced at a dedicated factory in Wuhan and designed at the Lotus Tech Creative Centre in the West Midlands, England.
A battery-electric performance crossover on Lotus's Electric Premium Architecture, it offers base, S, and R trims, with the R producing over 900 horsepower and a claimed 0–60 mph time under three seconds. In 2023 — its first full year on sale — Lotus delivered 6,970 vehicles total, a record in the brand's history, with the Eletre and the new Emeya making up the majority.
