Karma Revero History

After two years of re-engineering at a new assembly plant in Moreno Valley, California, Karma debuted the Revero on September 8, 2016 as a 2017 model year car. The exterior — Henrik Fisker's original low, dramatic four-door design — was retained virtually unchanged, while the powertrain was updated and production relocated from Finland to the United States. A solar panel roof remained a distinctive feature.

The first-generation Revero (2017–2019) used a GM Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder as a pure generator paired with dual rear electric motors, producing a combined 403 horsepower; EPA electric-only range was 50 miles and base price was approximately $130,000. A GTS performance variant arrived for 2019 with additional output.

For 2020 Karma introduced the substantially upgraded Revero GT, swapping the GM unit for a BMW-sourced B38 1.5-liter TwinPower turbocharged three-cylinder (the same engine family used in the BMW i8) and expanding the battery to 28 kWh. Combined output rose to 536 horsepower, all-electric range extended to approximately 80 miles, and total range reached about 360 miles. The Revero GT won the Green Car Journal's Luxury Green Car of the Year award for 2020. The Revero GT nameplate was used through MY2021 before the car was rebranded the GS-6.
