History

The Scrambler (CJ-8) was a stretched-wheelbase version of the CJ-7 with a small pickup bed, built from 1981 to 1985. It combined CJ off-road ability with a bit of hauling utility and a half-cab or soft-top look.

Produced in modest numbers, the Scrambler has become a prized CJ-era collectible, and its name was revived decades later as a Wrangler concept and trim. (Not to be confused with the unrelated modern Gladiator pickup.)
