Following the Apollo, Intermeccanica agreed in 1966 to build a new all-steel GT for Jack Griffith (of TVR Griffith 200 fame) on Long Island, New York. Robert Cumberford styled the body; ex-BRM chassis designer John Crosthwaite engineered the frame. A Plymouth 4.5-liter V8 provided the power. Only around 14 cars had been shipped when Griffith's company collapsed.
A new investor, Steve Wilder, took over the remaining bodies, renamed them the 'Omega', and had them assembled by Holman and Moody in North Carolina. Total deliveries across the Griffith GT and Omega combined reached approximately 33 cars — a footnote in Intermeccanica's history, but a direct bridge to the more successful Italia that followed.
