History
Presented at a ceremony in the Great Hall of the People in January 2020 and going on sale in China in August 2020, the H9 is Hongqi's most ambitious production sedan — a rear-wheel-drive luxury car measuring over 5.1 metres in length with a 3,060 mm wheelbase. Power comes from either a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48V mild-hybrid system (252 hp) or a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 (283 hp, upgraded to 333 hp in the 2024 facelift).
A stretched H9+ variant, with a wheelbase extended by 230 mm to 3,290 mm for limousine-level rear comfort, followed in 2021. Critics noted design cues borrowed from Rolls-Royce, Cadillac, and Maybach; Hongqi positioned the H9 openly as China's answer to all three. A facelift was launched in April 2024 at Auto China.
