History

The Wizard appeared in 1931 as a six-cylinder Hillman pitched above the smaller models, a return to side-valve engineering aimed at buyers wanting a larger, more prestigious car.

Its timing was poor — the Depression and the runaway success of the smaller, cheaper Minx left little room for it — and the Wizard was a short-lived model, dropped in 1933 as Rootes concentrated Hillman on the volume small-car market.
