History
The Venom F5 is Hennessey's first hypercar designed and engineered from a clean sheet rather than built on a donor chassis, developed by the dedicated Hennessey Special Vehicles division (formed in 2017). First teased in 2014 and shown in production form in 2020, it uses a carbon-fiber monocoque and a Hennessey-developed twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 named 'Fury,' rated at 1,817 horsepower on E85 — among the most powerful production internal-combustion engines ever fitted to a road car.
The car is named for the F5 rating on the Fujita tornado-intensity scale and is engineered with a stated goal of exceeding 300 mph (around 311 mph / 500 km/h). Production began in 2020 and was capped at 24 coupes, all of which sold quickly at a price that rose from roughly $1.6 million to about $2.1 million. An open-top Roadster followed, and a more extreme, track-biased F5 Revolution variant was added later.
