Healey G-Type Roadster History

Produced in tiny numbers alongside the Riley-engined range, the Healey G-Type used a 3.0-litre Alvis six-cylinder engine and Alvis gearbox in place of the familiar Riley four. It was intended to appeal to buyers wanting greater luxury and refinement.

Despite the larger engine, the G-Type was heavier than the Riley Healeys and its performance was considered inferior in period. Only approximately 25 were built between 1951 and 1953, making it the rarest of all Healey models. It was not a commercial success and was quietly discontinued.
