History

In mid-2006 FSO's majority shareholder UkrAVTO signed a licence agreement with General Motors to produce the Chevrolet Aveo (T250) saloon at Żerań; the first Warsaw-built Aveo rolled off the line on 11 July 2007. Hatchback (3-door and 5-door) variants followed from July 2008.

When GM Korea declined to renew FSO's production licence, the final Aveo left Żerań in 2011, ending six decades of passenger car assembly at the factory. Total Warsaw Aveo production reached 126,622 units. FSO subsequently shifted to manufacturing automotive sub-assemblies rather than complete vehicles, closing out its history as an independent carmaker.
