FPV Pursuit History
History
The FPV Pursuit launched alongside the GT sedan in 2003, sharing the Boss 290 V8 (290 kW / 389 hp) and the BA Falcon coupe-utility body. It used a live-axle leaf-spring rear — practical for towing and load carrying — while still offering Brembo brakes and FPV's uprated front suspension. A 'Super Pursuit' luxury variant, aligned with the GT-P sedan, followed in 2004.
The Pursuit tracked the GT's platform changes: BF generation from 2005 (gaining a ZF six-speed auto), then the FG generation from 2008 with the Boss 315 V8 at 315 kW. When Ford switched to the supercharged Miami V8 in 2010 the Pursuit received it as well.
A final limited-edition Pursuit Ute was produced in 2012–2014 alongside the GT R-Spec and GT-F 351, limited to just 120 units. Powered by the 315 kW Miami V8, it wore the GT front bumper, F6 side skirts, 19-inch GT wheels and the 'stealth' stripe package of the farewell GT-F — making it an instant collector's piece when Ford Australia's manufacturing ended in 2014.
