FN Typ 30-40 History

Introduced in 1905, the Typ 30-40 was FN's move into the luxury touring segment. Powered by a large four-cylinder engine, the car's refinement attracted an elite clientele — among its documented customers were members of the Belgian Royal Family and the Shah of Persia, who ordered a car in 1912 that the outbreak of war prevented being delivered.

The model demonstrated that FN could compete at the upper end of the European market rather than solely in the economy runabout class its early Spider had occupied. Production was disrupted by the German occupation of Herstal during the First World War, and the model line did not continue into the post-war period.
