Faraday Future FF 91 History

The FF 91 was first unveiled as a near-production concept at CES in January 2017 as Faraday Future's flagship — a large, ultra-luxury electric crossover built on the company's Variable Platform Architecture. It was pitched with headline performance numbers (a tri-motor powertrain making roughly 1,050 horsepower and a sub-2.4-second 0–60 mph time) and a battery of over 130 kWh, positioning it against the most expensive electric flagships on the market.

Repeated funding crises, an aborted investment from China's Evergrande Group, and years of near-bankruptcy pushed the program far past its original timeline. Production finally began at Faraday Future's Hanford, California plant on March 29, 2023, and the company began deliveries of the limited-edition FF 91 2.0 Futurist, priced at $309,000, with the first customer cars handed over in mid-2023.

Volumes were tiny: Faraday Future reported delivering only about ten FF 91 vehicles in 2023 (a mix of sales and leases) and a small number more through 2024 and 2025, underscoring the gap between the company's ambitions and its production reality. The FF 91 nonetheless remains the make's sole series-production model and the realization of the vision the FFZERO1 had previewed seven years earlier.
