Introduced in 1933, the Type 134 was Delahaye's more modestly priced companion to the Type 135, using a 2.15-litre four-cylinder engine derived from the 135's straight-six by simply removing two cylinders (bore and stroke 80 mm × 107 mm, 50 hp at 3,800 rpm). Transmission was a four-speed manual or the Cotal electro-mechanical pre-selector; suspension mirrored the 135, with independent leaf-sprung front suspension and a live rear axle with Bendix cable brakes.
The model was updated to the 134N from 1936. Most examples carried saloon bodywork by Autobineau, a coachbuilding subsidiary of Letourneur et Marchand. Approximately 340 Type 134Ns were built in total, including a small batch of post-war cars (built up to roughly 1946) that were mechanically identical to the last pre-war cars.
