History

The Datsun 620 replaced the earlier 520/521 series in 1972 and quickly became one of the most popular compact pickups in the US market. It was offered in standard and long-bed configurations, and in 1977 Datsun added the extended-cab 'King Cab' variant — one of the first crew-cab-style options in a compact truck.

The 620's combination of reliability, modest fuel consumption, and low cost of ownership made it a favorite among small-business owners and budget-minded buyers throughout the decade. It ran until 1979, when it was succeeded by the 720.
