Cisitalia 505 DF History

After the bankruptcy and Dusio's departure, his son Carlo Dusio reconstituted Cisitalia in Turin and attempted a return to road-car production. The 505 DF (Derivazione Fiat) was presented at the Geneva Motor Salon in March 1953 and again at the Turin show that April. It used the Fiat 1900 platform — a 1,901 cc inline four-cylinder modified by Cisitalia with a revised alloy head, twin Weber carburettors, and reworked camshaft, raising output to approximately 80–85 hp — clothed in elegant coupe bodywork by Carrozzeria Ghia.

Chassis records indicate no more than ten examples were completed. Three are known to survive. The 505 DF represents Cisitalia's last serious attempt at a road car; the company lingered on into the mid-1960s producing variants of the 202 and, briefly, Fiat 850-based cars, before finally closing.
