History

The Arrizo sedan series debuted in 2013, and the Arrizo 5 — the volume model of the line — was shown at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show, going on sale in China soon after. It slotted into the competitive compact-sedan segment with turbocharged petrol engines and a value-focused price point.

The nameplate proved durable: a major facelift in 2019 briefly renamed the car Arrizo EX before reverting to Arrizo 5 after a further refresh. A more upmarket variant was marketed as the Arrizo 6 / Arrizo GX from 2018, later rebadged Arrizo 5 Plus in 2021. A 2023 facelift refreshed the front styling for the 2024 model year.

Still in production, the Arrizo 5 is one of Chery's most widely exported sedans, sold across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa as part of the brand's sustained international push.
