History
The Escalade arrived for 1999 as Cadillac's hurried response to the Lincoln Navigator — initially little more than a rebadged GMC Yukon Denali. The far more distinctive second generation (2002) gave it bold Cadillac styling and a 6.0-liter V8, and it exploded into a hip-hop and celebrity status symbol, becoming one of the most recognizable luxury SUVs in America.
The third generation (2007) brought the brand's 'Art and Science' design and a 403-hp 6.2-liter V8; the fourth (2015) refined the formula with a magnetic-ride chassis. The fifth generation, launched for 2021, introduced a 38-inch curved-OLED dashboard display, independent rear suspension, and an available diesel — plus, later, the all-electric Escalade IQ.

First generation · GMT400-based original
A rebadged GMT400 GMC Yukon Denali with a 5.7-liter V8 — Cadillac's quick first answer to the Lincoln Navigator.
Second generation · GMT800
The breakout design with distinct Cadillac styling, a 6.0-liter V8, and (new for the line) the long-wheelbase ESV and the EXT pickup variant.
Third generation · GMT900
