Buick Park Avenue History

The Park Avenue name began in 1975 as an appearance package on the Electra 225, became an Electra trim level in 1978, and was promoted to a standalone model for 1991 after the Electra was retired. It became Buick's front-wheel-drive C-body flagship.

Through two US generations it was a quiet, comfortable near-luxury sedan; the Park Avenue Ultra added a supercharged 3.8-liter V6. US production ended in 2005, after which the Lucerne took over the full-size flagship role. (The name later continued on a separate China-market sedan.)
