History

The Lucerne arrived for 2006 to replace both the LeSabre and the Park Avenue, consolidating Buick's full-size offering into a single front-wheel-drive sedan on GM's H-body.

It was notable as one of the last GM cars offered with the Cadillac-derived Northstar V8 (in the higher CXS trim), alongside the familiar 3.8-liter V6. The Lucerne was discontinued after 2011, ending Buick's traditional full-size sedan lineage as the brand pivoted toward smaller cars and crossovers.
