Buick Electra History

The Electra replaced Buick's earlier senior full-size cars for 1959 as the brand's top-line model. Its best-known form was the long-wheelbase Electra 225 — nicknamed the 'deuce and a quarter' for its roughly 225-inch length — a flagship of 1960s Buick luxury.

The Electra moved to GM's C-body and front-wheel drive in the mid-1980s. The nameplate was retired after 1990, its luxury role passing to the new Park Avenue, which had been an Electra trim level.
