BMW i8 History

The i8 (2014–2020) paired a turbocharged three-cylinder engine with an electric motor in a carbon-fiber-bodied, scissor-doored sports car — a showcase of BMW's 'i' technology.

A Roadster joined the coupe in 2018. By the end of production in 2020, the i8 was the best-selling plug-in-hybrid sports car to date, with over 20,000 built.
