The original 8 Series (E31, 1989–1999) was a pillarless V12 grand tourer with pop-up headlights — a 1990s technology flagship.
BMW revived the name with the G14/G15/G16 (2018–present), a luxury grand-touring coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe topped by the twin-turbo V8 M8.
