BAIC Arcfox Alpha-S History

The Arcfox Alpha-S was launched in 2021 as the flagship sedan of BAIC's premium Arcfox brand, positioned as a direct rival to the NIO ET7 and other premium Chinese electric sedans. Its most notable variant, the Alpha-S HI (Huawei Inside), was the first production car in the world equipped with Huawei's full-stack ADS (Advanced Driving System) hardware, including three lidar sensors, six millimetre-wave radars, and twelve cameras.

The Alpha-S reinforced BAIC's partnership with Huawei, which would deepen further with the 2024 co-development of the Stelato S9 smart sedan. The Alpha-S and its Huawei variant signalled BAIC's intent to compete at the technology frontier of China's fast-moving electric-vehicle market rather than retreating to low-margin volume segments.
