Autozam Scrum History

The Autozam Scrum entered production in June 1989, coinciding with the Autozam brand's launch. It was a straightforward commercial rebadge of the Suzuki Carry/Every cabover kei platform, sold through Autozam dealerships to give them a practical van and truck offering alongside the brand's passenger cars.

The first Scrum models used Suzuki's 550 cc F5B three-cylinder engine, but when Japan's kei regulations expanded to 660 cc in 1990 the Scrum quickly adopted the larger engine in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms, the latter producing 58 PS. Four-wheel drive was available. Models sold before 1998 carried the Autozam Scrum name; as the brand was wound down they were rebadged as the Mazda Scrum, a name that continued for decades afterward.
