Abarth Abarth 500e History
History
The Abarth 500e, launched in 2023, is the brand's first fully electric road car. Built on the same platform as the third-generation Fiat 500 electric, the 500e features a 113.7 kW (153 hp) electric motor, a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery, and 235 Nm of instant torque — the torque characteristic helping 0–100 km/h in approximately 7.0 seconds, broadly on pace with the outgoing turbocharged 595.
To address the performance-car identity challenge of silent electrification, the 500e includes a synthesised exhaust sound that Abarth developed in collaboration with a music producer — audible inside and outside the car. Driving modes include Turismo, Scorpion Street, and Scorpion Track. The launch edition, named Scorpionissima, was limited to 1,949 units — a reference to Abarth's 1949 founding year — and began delivering in June 2023.
Available in both hatchback and cabriolet body styles, the 500e is sold primarily in European markets; as of the car's launch, no North American availability had been confirmed.
