Abarth Grande Punto Abarth History

When Fiat re-established Abarth as an independent performance division on 1 February 2007, the first car to wear the revived Scorpion badge was the Grande Punto Abarth. Based on the Fiat Grande Punto, the Abarth version featured a turbocharged 1.4-litre MultiAir engine producing 155 hp, uprated brakes, lowered and stiffened suspension, and Abarth-specific visual detailing.

An accompanying S2000 rally variant was prepared for motorsport. Although modest in market terms, the Grande Punto Abarth fulfilled a critical brand function: it proved Abarth could deliver meaningful performance on a modern platform and set the template for the higher-profile 500 Abarth that followed in 2008.
