The 2025 model year

Overview

Volkswagen refreshed the U.S. Golf GTI and Golf R for 2025 and made the seven-speed DSG the sole transmission. The GTI continued in S, SE, and Autobahn trims with a 241-hp EA888 evo4 engine. The Golf R rose to 328 hp and was sold as the standard Golf R or the new Black Edition, which added black exterior details, carbon-fiber cabin trim, black brake calipers, and black exhaust tips.
