History

Officially designated from January 2004, the GAZ-31105 was a further evolution of the GAZ-3110, featuring a new front fascia with integrated headlights, a revised hood, and an updated interior. Although the car's ancestry ran all the way back to the 1970 GAZ-24, the 31105 represented a genuine modernization effort: from 2006 GAZ offered a Chrysler 2.4-liter DOHC engine as an option, and in 2007 a new 2.4-liter ZMZ-40525 unit joined the range as the legacy ZMZ four-cylinders were phased out.

The 31105 sold alongside the 3102 through the 2000s until GAZ halted both lines by 2009–2010, concentrating its remaining passenger-car capacity on the Volga Siber. With its discontinuation, the direct lineage stretching from the 1970 GAZ-24 finally came to an end after nearly four decades.
