History
Presented at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the microSNAP was Rinspeed's expression of the 'skateboard' modular EV concept applied to urban micro-mobility. The idea separates a standardised rolling electric chassis from bolt-on body pods that can be swapped for different use cases — passenger transport, goods delivery, or other functions — allowing the durable drivetrain to outlast any single body style.
The microSNAP marked a deliberate strategic pivot for Rinspeed in the late 2010s: away from single-vehicle performance stunts and toward ecosystem-level thinking about city transport, shared ownership, and the circular economy of vehicle components. Like all Rinspeed concepts, it was a prototype and technology demonstrator, not a production vehicle.
