Pegaso Z-103 History

Seeking a less expensive follow-on to the Z-102, ENASA developed the Z-103 with a simplified single-cam engine layout and larger displacement options of 3.9, 4.5, and 4.7 litres. The goal was to lower production cost and broaden potential appeal without the extreme manufacturing demands of the quad-cam unit.

The Z-103 attracted almost no customers. Only three examples were completed before the entire sports-car programme was cancelled in 1958. ENASA's management concluded that the resources required — even for the more basic Z-103 — could not be justified against the company's core truck-and-bus business, and Pegaso's brief chapter as a supercar maker closed permanently.
