History

Introduced in 2017 as the replacement for the long-running Esperante, the Avezzano returned Panoz to a deliberately old-school formula: a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive GT with a manual gearbox and a naturally aspirated V8. In place of the Esperante's Ford modular engine it adopted GM's 6.2-liter LS3, rated at 430-plus horsepower, with a supercharged version offered at roughly 580-plus horsepower.

Panoz paired the road car with a racing program: the Avezzano GT4 was entered in the Pirelli World Challenge from 2017, while the street version went on sale the same summer. As with earlier Panoz models, the Avezzano was built in extremely small numbers, continuing the marque's niche, motorsport-flavored road-car tradition — total production volume is not cleanly published (sources vary, with estimates on the order of a dozen or so cars), and yearEnd is left open as the model was never formally announced as discontinued.
