Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG History
History
The SLS AMG (C197) was AMG's first independently engineered car, a front-mid-engine V8 supercar whose gullwing doors deliberately evoked the 1954 300SL Gullwing.
Offered as a gullwing coupe and (without the gullwing doors) a roadster, plus a limited Black Series and the electric SLS AMG Electric Drive, before the AMG GT succeeded it. The US SLS ran from 2011 to 2014 (production ended early 2014 with the GT Final Edition).
