Maserati MC20 History

Revealed on 9 September 2020 in Modena and delivered from 2021, the MC20 represents the most significant Maserati in decades: a purpose-built supercar developed entirely in-house, the first mid-engine Maserati since the 1971 Bora. It is built at Modena's Viale Ciro Menotti facility — the historic Maserati factory — and every component, including the engine, is manufactured in Modena.

The heart of the MC20 is the Nettuno ('Neptune'), a 3.0-litre twin-turbo 90-degree V6 with a revolutionary pre-chamber combustion system derived from Formula 1 technology. The Nettuno produces 630 PS (621 hp) at 7,500 rpm and 730 Nm of torque, in an engine weighing just 220 kg. It drives the rear wheels through a dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox; 0–62 mph takes around 2.9 seconds with a top speed exceeding 202 mph.

A Cielo (sky) targa-roof version joined the coupe for 2023, and a fully electric Folgore variant was announced and is in development. The MC20 is the technical flagship of Maserati's new generation and the platform for the Nettuno engine family used across the brand.
