Lexus UX History
History
Introduced at the March 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the UX (standing for 'Urban Explorer') went on sale in December 2018 for the 2019 model year as Lexus's entry-level crossover, built on the same GA-C platform as the Toyota Corolla. It slots beneath the NX in both size and price.
The UX is offered in three powertrain variants for international markets: the UX 200 (2.0L naturally aspirated four-cylinder, front-wheel drive), the UX 250h (2.0L hybrid, standard AWD), and the battery-electric UX 300e. The US market focuses on the UX 200 and UX 250h.

Battery-electric version of the UX, sold mainly in Europe, Japan, and China; reached US showrooms only briefly (2023–2025, limited to select ZEV-compliant states) before being discontinued globally in late 2025.
