Lexus RC History
History
Unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and on sale as a 2015 model, the RC is a two-door coupe built on a stretched IS platform. It launched in RC 350 (V6) and RC 300 (V6/AWD) grades alongside the V8 RC F performance coupe, giving Lexus a fixed-roof sporting coupe for the first time since the SC 400 ended in 2000.
The RC received styling refreshes in 2018 and 2023 but remained on the same architecture throughout its run. Lexus confirmed the RC and RC F would end production in December 2025; the 2025 RC F was sold exclusively as a 'Final Edition' to mark the close of the nameplate.
