History

The LX debuted for the 1996 model year as Lexus's first SUV, based on the J80-generation Toyota Land Cruiser and powered by a 4.5L inline-six. It was quickly succeeded by the LX 470 (1998–2007), which moved to a J100 Land Cruiser base and a 4.7L V8, and then the LX 570 (2008–2021), using a 5.7L V8 and the J200 Land Cruiser platform.

The current LX 600 debuted for 2022 (on sale late 2021) on the Land Cruiser 300-series TNGA-F platform, replacing the long-lived 5.7L V8 with a twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6. The LX 600 is Lexus's most expensive model and is available in a four-seat Ultra Luxury configuration.
