History

The LC debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show as a production version of the 2012 LF-LC concept — a show car so well received that Lexus committed to building it with minimal changes. On sale for 2018, the LC 500 uses a naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 (471 hp) and a 10-speed automatic; the LC 500h pairs a 3.5L V6 with a sophisticated multi-stage hybrid system.

A soft-top LC 500 Convertible was added for 2021, the concept having been previewed at the 2019 LA Auto Show. The LC is Lexus's design statement and emotional halo car rather than a volume model. Lexus announced the LC coupe and convertible will cease production in August 2026, making 2026 the final North American model year.
